Violence against the elderly may take place in the privacy of the home, in an institution, and structurally.
Types of violence:
PSYCHOLOGICAL (AND EMOTIONAL) – attempts at dehumanization and underestimation, lying, mocking, calling derogatory names
FINANCIAL – financial manipulation or exploitation, and include fraud, forgery, blackmail, abuse, stealing money, stealing pensions
PHYSICAL – any act of violence regardless of the result, whether a physical injury or not, kicking, locking in the room, denial of medication
SEXUAL – various forms of sexual behaviour, exploitation, and harassment, without will and consent (unwanted touching, rape, photography)
NEGLIGENCE – intentional or unintentional failure to provide basic living conditions and necessary care
THE COUNSELING CENTER FOR CHILDREN AND ADULT VICTIMS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE “DUGA-ZAGREB” is intended for all those who are exposed to domestic violence, who need information on what can they do in cases of violence against their family members and how they can protect themselves or their loved ones. Counselling is free of charge and is provided by phone every working day from 8.30 to 11.30. It can be arranged to come by the counselling centre (Ozaljska 93) by previous agreement in the city of Zagreb.
